Olivier et Annabelle Sumeire
At an altitude of 350 metres, in the heart of the Sainte-Victoire landscape, Olivier and Annabelle Sumeire carry on their family heritage at Maupague. Across 40 hectares of AOP Côtes de Provence Cru Sainte-Victoire vineyards, they craft two cuvées, La Bastide de Maupague and Château Maupague, in red, white and rosé—elegant wines with a distinctive sense of place.
Maupague - The Expression of an Exceptional Terroir
At an altitude of 350 meters, at the foot of the majestic Sainte-Victoire Massif, the Maupague vineyard lies within one of Provence’s most iconic wine-growing terroirs.
A property of the Sumeire family for several generations, the estate is located in the village of Puyloubier and is now overseen by Olivier and Annabelle Sumeire. As custodians of a family winemaking heritage, they carry forward a tradition built on respect for the land, meticulous craftsmanship and a constant pursuit of the truest expression of the terroir.
Steeped in history since Antiquity, this exceptional site benefits from a remarkable natural setting. Its rocky hillsides, bathed in sunlight and shaped by the dramatic landscape of Sainte-Victoire, create a unique terroir where the vines draw their character from their surroundings. Here, nature sets the pace, providing ideal conditions for producing wines that are refined, balanced and deeply expressive of their origins.
The estate’s 40 hectares are entirely classified under the AOP Côtes de Provence Cru Sainte-Victoire appellation and are cultivated with the utmost respect for the environment. Maupague is committed to sustainable viticulture and holds High Environmental Value (HVE) Level 3 certification, reflecting its demanding approach to protecting soils, biodiversity and natural resources.
At Maupague, quality is also rooted in careful control of yields. True to the Provençal meaning of its name, “Maupague”, “giving little”, the vineyard naturally favors moderate yields. This philosophy encourages concentration and finesse in the grapes while allowing the distinctive character of this exceptional terroir to shine through with precision.
This identity is expressed through two emblematic cuvées: La Bastide de Maupague and Château Maupague, each available as a red, white and rosé wine. Six expressions of a single terroir, each revealing in its own way a delicate balance of freshness, elegance and character.
Through these cuvées, Olivier and Annabelle Sumeire continue a family story while expressing a contemporary vision of Provence: wines that are elegant, sincere and distinctive, capable of telling the story of a place, a family and a terroir.
