Château de la Bégude

Didier et Jacques Lefebvre

domaine
Rousset

Heir to the old Provençal staging posts where travellers and riders once stopped to rest, Château de la Bégude has cultivated the art of wine and conviviality for five generations, at the heart of the Sainte-Victoire terroir, in a healthy and unspoilt environment.

Horaires : Accueil sur rendez-vous. Jours fériés: sur appel.

At the foot of the Sainte-Victoire mountain, Château de la Bégude is a former coaching inn from the time of Louis XIV, now a family estate passed down through five generations. Founded in 1896 by Marius Rey, great-great-grandfather of the current manager, the vineyard today spans 32 hectares farmed organically, with old vines, sun-drenched hillsides and hand-picked harvests for the reds.

The estate owes its winemaking independence to Jacques Lefebvre, who from 1974 restructured the vineyard and developed winemaking at the Château. Now over 95 years old, officially retired but still a regular presence at the estate, he remains today the living memory of the Château.

Since 2015, his son Didier Lefebvre has run the estate, continuing its development with respect for living ecosystems and the terroir. Faithful to the spirit of the estate while bringing his own personal sensibility to growing and winemaking, he crafts elegant, authentic wines deeply marked by the Sainte-Victoire terroir.
